This stunning venue is more than just a coworking space; it’s a unique blend of heritage charm and modern workspace, making it the perfect spot to spark creativity and collaboration.

There, you can start your day with a fresh brew from their café, followed by diving into work in one of their beautifully restored rooms, all while being surrounded by the character of this historic building.

But it’s not just the space that sets The Racquets Court apart.

They’ve cultivated a vibrant, welcoming community that feels more like a family than just a place to work.

From regular social events to member perks that help you connect and collaborate, there’s always something going on to keep you engaged and inspired.

Plus, their friendly and dedicated team ensures every little detail is taken care of — so you can focus on what you do best!

The Racquets Court has made a big impact on its members, and it shows — they’ve proudly earned 10th place in The Tallys 2024!

Whether you’re a freelancer, startup, or growing business, The Racquets Court offers everything you need to thrive in style.

We caught up with Bex, Community Manager at The Racquets Court, to see exactly what makes them stand out as one of the best workspaces in the world.

How did The Racquets Court start?

“The Racquet Court's journey into coworking began as an unexpected opportunity.

Initially, it was purchased in 2017 as the future headquarters for our sister company, Gavurin, and IT consultancy specialising in integrated software solutions with a focus on business intelligence.

Our vision was to transform the historic 19th-century sports court into a state-of-the-art office space to support Gavurin’s growth.

Following an extensive renovation, we unveiled a modern, tech-forward workspace in 2019.

As we completed the transformation, we realised that space exceeded our immediate needs, leaving us with some additional capacity.

Seizing the opportunity, we decided to open the space to professionals and businesses looking for a flexible workspace.

Demand for desks quickly grew, and while the pandemic temporarily halted operations for non-key workers, it also accelerated Gavurin’s shift to remote working.

This change allowed us to further expand our coworking offering when we reopened.

Since then, The Racquet Court has grown and has become a hub for a diverse range of organisations.

Today, it’s the Northern headquarters for global and national companies, as well as a dynamic business community for local professionals.”

Who can work at The Racquets Court?

“We have a massive range of customers.

Originally, we had anticipated more tech businesses would be interested in the space, but, these days we have students working towards their PhDs, business consultants, recruiters, marketing companies, charities, engineers, designers, software developers, and data scientists, among others.

It’s always exciting to see new faces and hear their stories.

The variety of industries represented here creates a dynamic environment, fostering valuable networking opportunities and collaboration across different sectors.

Each day brings something new.”

What makes The Racquets Court stand out in the workspace market?

“We’re a proudly independent, northern business with a single location and a small, dedicated team that handles everything in-house.

We focus on supporting other local, independent businesses and fostering a strong sense of community.

Ethics and sustainability are at the core of our operations.

Every aspect, from the eco-friendly cleaning products we use to the thoughtful design choices throughout the space, reflect our commitment to minimising environmental impact.

Originally designed as a headquarters for a high-tech data company, we’ve carried that tech-forward mindset into our coworking offering.

With superfast, secure internet, state-of-the-art access systems, enhanced cyber security and dedicated SSIDs, we provide a cutting-edge, shared workspace that prioritises privacy, security and efficiency for all members."

What amenities and perks can people expect at The Racquets Court?

Our favourite testimonials from The Racquets Court members

  • “Been working at Racquet's Court for the last 18 months now and I can't recommend it enough. Bex and Paula are always friendly and fantastic hosts. Will miss working here (particularly Thirsty Thursdays).”
  • “I really loved my experience at The Racquets Court. Bex ensured I was properly welcomed into the space, with all the relevant information, as soon as I arrived. She's so friendly and I felt immediately comfortable. I'm able to attend this coworking space because they have a dog friendly Friday, which makes it possible for me to bring my lovely dog and thus get out of the house! The dog friendly Friday was perfect — Aurora had a blanket ready for her by my desk, as well as treats and water, which was perfect. We had a great experience and will be back for sure.”
  • “I’ve had a ‘virtual office’ here for a couple of months and been impressed with the level of service and friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. I recently also hired a meeting room and everything was perfect. It’s a top quality venue and service. Can highly recommend.”
  • “For me Racquets is the best working space in Newcastle! It has a bright, airy atmosphere, perfect for creativity or if you need a space in which to concentrate. It has excellent refreshment/kitchen facilities and very helpful, friendly staff. 10/10”
  • “What a lovely place! Was looking for somewhere to base myself for a few hours before travelling home and The Racquets Court provided just what I needed. Lovely and spacious, great internet access and obvs the drinks and snacks makes it all worthwhile. Would not hesitate to use again!”
  • “I’ve been using Racquets Court for a while now and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The staff are friendly and thoughtful — creating nice little touches, including putting up Christmas decorations in December and providing free tea and coffee throughout the year. The building is conveniently located in Newcastle city centre and the facilities are clean and Covid-safe. The desks sizes are decent, the atmosphere is relaxed and the space is bright in the summer and cosy in the winter. The booking system is intuitive and the prices are incredibly reasonable. I would definitely encourage anyone looking for a co-working space to give this Racquets Court a try.”
  • “I spent a few days working from the Racquets Court whilst visiting family in Newcastle, and had a great experience. The location is ideal (right in the city centre), facilities are first class (particularly the WiFi, which far outstrips that of any co-working space I've used in London) and the staff are friendly and helpful. Great value too. Thoroughly recommended for anyone looking for a temporary desk in Newcastle — certainly beats working from the spare room!”
  • “Incredibly friendly staff, stunning workspace, everything you need to be productive, super clean and tidy, no distractions.”
  • “The Racquets Court combines excellent functionality, wonderful aesthetics, great community and site location which make it unbeatable as a flexible coworking space.”
